Breath is the essence of life.

Breathwork:

Active Dynamic Breathwork is an acceleration of the healing process through an exploration and practice of the breath. Disconnecting from the mind entirely, the breath goes deep into your cells, saturating the body with both oxygen and life force, and helps to release any negative self-thought, perceived limitations, past trauma or any uncomfortable sensations that are held in the body.

The breath acts as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious, between the mind, body and the spirit. By connecting with the breath, we can tune into our deep intuition, which will always direct us to the best outcome. This is not a restful, relaxing or still practice. This work is moving and dynamic and can take us on a wild journey into forgotten bits of ourselves, opening us up to greater clarity, release and peace of mind.

Breathwork is based on the belief that the body wants to heal itself and it has everything it needs to be able to do this. It will always be working towards that state of balance, and by accessing this healing space within ourselves, our awareness is brought to whatever needs to be resolved. During this process, the breath rewires the brain by creating new neural pathways.  Breathwork is a completely safe, natural healing tool that perfectly complements any other healing or therapies you may be doing.

What to Expect:

Private and group sessions last around one hour and thirty minutes to two hours depending on the breathwork pattern. The first part is an open discussion to help frame our work together, set any intentions, and learn the breathwork pattern. During the second part, you will lay down as I guide you through the active breathwork practice for 25 minutes. During this time, music will be playing, and I will be utilizing oils, incense, and touch (upon consent). We will close our time together with a little conversation and reflection.

Each Breathwork session is unique, and experiences can be different for each individual or from one Breathwork session to the next. Common experiences include tingling, vibrating, temperature changes, weightiness and/ or a floating sensation, and emotional release.

Afterwards you might feel energized, clear, calm, and connected. This practice is one of my very favorites for physical, emotional, spiritual, and energetic release, expansion, and deeper sense of embodiment and presence.

Research:

In Yoga tradition, practitioners have been aware of the power of breath for thousands of years. Richard P. Brown and Patricia L. Gerbarg published in Yoga Breathing, Meditation, and Longetivity.

Psychiatrists and neurologists at Boston University, University of South Carolina, and other Universities are researching and noticing the profound effects of breathwork with clinically diagnosed individuals with depression and anxiety.

Andrew Huberman, Ph.D. a Stanford neuroscientist, studies breathing and its relationship to stress response. Other performance coaches, such as Jason Amoroso, are sharing it with professional athletes.

Wim Hof featured in Discover magazine, who practices a different type of Breathwork, showed in a 2014 scientific study, that when injected with an inflammatory agent, Breathwork patients experienced lower levels of inflammation that would normally accompany receiving the injection.

According to Gay Hendricks, PhD, a Dutch Study compared two groups of heart attack patients. The first group was taught simple diaphragmatic breathing, while the second group was given no training in breathing. The breathing group had no further heart attacks, while 7 of the 12 members of the second group had second heart attacks over the next two years.

Jack Shield, MD conducted a study on the effects of breathing on the lymphatic system. Using cameras inside the body, he found that deep diaphragmatic breathing stimulated the cleansing of the lymph system by creating a vacuum effect, which sucked the lymph through the bloodstream. This increased the rate of toxic elimination by as much as 15 times the normal pace.

Neuroscientists are studying how different ways of breathing are engaging different parts of the brain, change the brain and improve performance, especially in stressful situations.

Dr. Arthur C. Guyton, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Deepak Chopra have shared about the benefits of active breathing on public level.

My Experience:

I have been practicing breathwork since 2018. The first time I practiced this two-part pranayama technique, I released years of trauma out of my body. I knew if I continued this practice and then eventually shared it with clients, I could put myself out of a job. Which gave me even more reason to continue this practice, because as much as I love working with my clients, my deepest desire is for them to feel as empowered as possible when working with me. I want my clients to truly feel and know what it’s like to “heal” and transform themselves. My job is to hold the space for this transformation.

I have completed trainings under David Elliot and Sara Silverstein. I have also attended a few trainings studying Neurodynamic Breathwork under Michael Stone.

About Me:

Hi! My name is Callie David and I offer traditional and non-traditional therapeutic techniques. For the last decade, I have been working in the health field. I’ve worked at eating disorder clinics, drug and alcohol rehab centers, community mental health centers, and more. I take a trauma-informed somatic approach as I help people get from disconnected and stuck in their mind to deeply connected to their own intuition.

I welcome people of all genders, identities, and experiences. I am a passionate advocate for social justice and equity of care. I hold a safe, non-judgmental space as I use natural tools to encourage the movement and release of energy.

It is the deepest honor to work with some of the most incredible people as they are moving through past experiences and reclaiming their worth. As serious as my work is, I love to bring my big heart and joy to the table as those can be some of the purest and most healing energies.

What People Are Saying

“I cannot recommend Callie's breathwork sessions enough. Throughout the whole process she was warm, kind and nonjudgmental. I ended up deciding on five 1:1 breathwork sessions with the intention of processing emotions related to a life transition. She spent time checking in beforehand, creating trust and safety, as well as debriefing afterwards to help integrate the experience. The actual breathwork brought up intense emotions including anger, sadness and at times joy and peace. I felt safe to express the emotions that were coming up in session as needed. I was able to release long held and deeply suppressed emotions at a rapid rate that traditional therapy has not been able to (Although I added this in conjunction with my regular therapy). Overall, I feel incredibly grateful to have had this support and feel that it has contributed to my healing, happiness and wellbeing.”

"My breathwork sessions with Callie are amazing, you can tell she's living her life's passion when she holds space. When I'm feeling stuck in my heart and my head, I call Callie. I've had the pleasure of working with her in a group setting as well as one on one. After my sessions, I feel at peace, lovingly seen and like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I've always felt safe to express myself in any way I need during our sessions, which isn't something that comes naturally to me. She also incorporates Reiki intoher services.I love how she takes the time at the beginning of every session to understand my heart and help me create intentions that are simple and clear. At the end of each session, she offers plenty of time to ground myself and then takes the time to talk about my experience. Callie is passionately dedicated to her work, and I'm very happy to have her along for my healing journey."

“I had been hearing about breathwork for a while and was skeptical about trying it. I decided to show up and do it and get out of my comfort zone. My expectations were blown out of the water in only my first session with Callie. She guided me through the entire process and let me have my own process at the same time. I have been in therapy for a while and I can see that this will multiply my healing and self awareness far more and quicker than therapy. I can not recommend this enough. Even if you are in a great place there is always room for improvement and discovery. Do it.”

“My sessions with Callie have been phenomenally transformative. I went into my initial breathwork session not knowing what to expect, and after just one session I understood the hype for this practice. All of my sessions have been virtual, and even so Callie brought amazing healing energy into my space. Callie cultivated an environment where I felt safe, held, and validated throughout each breath. I didn't expect to feel much of a difference (I was definitely a skeptic before) but now, three sessions later, I stand by my word when I say my sessions with Callie have been groundbreaking. What I'm most grateful for is that I can use the breath patterns Callie taught me in sessions to bring me back to my body at any time.”

Can I practice Breathwork at home by myself?

It has been suggested by my teacher, David Elliott, that someone have enough practice being guided through Breathwork before you practice on your own at home. The reason this is suggested is because if you encounter something you are unsure of how to navigate, you can alternatively reinforce negative breathing mechanisms and emotional traumas instead of releasing them. To truly release emotional blockages, we must feel safe and supported and be assisted through other specific techniques to uncover whatever is hiding in our subconscious.

With that being said, one of the most amazing things about breathwork is that WE hold the keys to our own success! So, once you have a hang of the pattern and the process, it is completely safe to continue to practice the breath on your own after our sessions are complete.

Is virtual breathwork as powerful as in person breathwork?

Yes! Breathwork powerfully travels through the internet because this practice is powerfully rooted in your body, with my guidance and support. I’ve done a lot of virtual work myself and have worked with clients all over the world and it’s incredible.

Is every breathwork session the same?

Yes and no. The way that I structure the sessions are the same. However, what comes forward can be different from session to session. The material that surfaces in each session is different because we are energetic beings. We collect energy from the people, places and things around us. Sometimes we need to learn how to relate to ourselves in certain ways before the deeper healing can come forward. Therefore, when we breathe, whatever is present inside of us, whatever is present outside of us, whatever we have collected along the way, and whatever is ready to be revealed and healed, is what will evolve during the session.
